Celebrating 40 years this Arbor Week

January 26, 2022

Every year from March 7-14, California Arbor Week brings together residents from all over the state to celebrate trees and the many ways they make our communities more livable and lovable.

This year’s California Arbor Day is particularly special because it is the Sacramento Tree Foundation’s 40th anniversary. Since our founding on March 7, 1982, thousands of community members like you have helped us plant over 1.5 million trees throughout the region. Thanks to your ongoing support and dedication over these four decades, our region is greener, healthier, and more beautiful for generations to come.

We could not have made it this far without you, so to celebrate, we’d love for you to join us for some special events during California Arbor Week! All events are free and family friendly; check back for updated listings.

Arbor Week Festival | Sunday, March 13 – 1-5 p.m.
Come on down to Urban Wood Rescue for the Tree Foundation’s 40th anniversary celebration featuring food trucks, a makers’ faire, demonstrations, and activities for all ages to learn more about Sacramento’s urban forest and how the Tree Foundation stewards it from seed to slab. Admission is free, but there will be food, drink, wood, and wares available for purchase.

Arbor Week Fundraiser | now until Monday, March 14
Please join us to celebrate 40 years of growing our lush urban tree canopy and ensure it thrives for generations to come! Together, we are stewarding the urban forest throughout its entire lifecycle — from harvesting acorns, to planting seedlings, caring for our mature tree canopy, and salvaging fallen trees as urban lumber. Your support is crucial every step of the way.

Gifts made by the end of California Arbor Week on March 14 will help us reach our goal of $5,000 and will be put to use immediately in our spring programs to steward our urban forest from seed to slab. Thank you for investing in full-cycle forest stewardship to create a future of healthy, thriving communities for many years to come!
