My experience as an urban ecology intern

My work as an urban ecology intern planting trees and restoring lost or degraded habitat really made me feel like I was accomplishing something I could be proud of and look back on years later. It was a really enjoyable experience interning at the Sacramento Tree Foundation, and I’m thankful for the time and effort I put into it.

A fruitful acorn harvest

Beginning in mid-September, Sacramento Tree Foundation staff, interns, and volunteers were busy locating, learning about, and carefully harvesting this years nuts that will become next years seedling trees. Because of everyone’s hard work we met or exceeded most of our goals during this challenging harvesting season.

Interns helping to measure the health of our City of Trees

Our Urban Forest Assessment interns have been working hard this summer to collect important data from around the region. This data will help us understand and quantify the many benefits our urban forest provides.
