From acorn to oak: how local students are restoring Sacramento’s oak woodlands

Students across the region play an important role in reforesting our native oak habitats by growing oak seedlings through the Tree Foundation’s Seed to Seedling Program. In January, acorn kits were delivered to classrooms, homeschool groups, scout groups, and after school programs all over the region where students cared for them for the next for months. Growing the next generation of tree stewards

Students growing oaks for Wine Country

Since Sacramento’s acorn crop was smaller than usual last fall, our harvest volunteers went all the way to the Bay Area. This turn of events proved especially serendipitous when the Wine Country fires broke out several weeks later.
