Interns helping to measure the health of our City of Trees

July 16, 2015

This summer, our urban forest assessment interns have been collecting important data from around the region. By using the USDA Forest Service i-Tree Eco program, our dedicated interns are helping us learn about the current conditions of our urban forest.

By collecting data from 285 randomly selected plots, this urban forest assessment will contribute to a long-term study of our region’s canopy and help to quantify the many benefits our urban forest provides. The final data will be incorporated into a State of the Urban Forest report which will help the Sacramento region make informed decisions about building a diverse and healthy urban forest.

Our interns happily showing off their hard work so far!
