California sycamore
Platanus racemosa
We are not providing this tree at this time but it may be available for purchase from local nurseries.
This California native is an essential element of Sacramento’s natural wetland and river ecosystems. California sycamores are identified by their grey and white patchwork bark and their star-shaped, fuzzy leaves. These trees thrive with ample regular watering but are quite adaptable once established and can survive low-water conditions. The California sycamore is quite tall and fast-growing, reaching a mature height of roughly 70 feet tall and growing as fast as 3 feet per year. Susceptible to anthracnose and may lose its leaves after a wet spring.
