Saucer magnolia
Magnolia × soulangeana
The saucer magnolia is easily identified by its pink and white teacup-sized flowers in early spring that appear dramatically before the leaves bud out. It tends to grow with multiple trunks, giving it a round and spreading shape. It flowers best when planted in full sun but can tolerate partial shade. This tree is one of our smallest medium-sized trees and is a great fit for those trying to maximize shade in smaller areas. May be a species saucer magnolia or the 'Alexandrina' cultivar depending on availability.
